Welcome

Welcome to the website for FIRST Robotics Team 223 - Xtreme Heat. This is where you will be able to find everything you ever wanted to know about Team 223, and maybe even some things you didn't expect to discover. Team 223 gives students a chance to unleash their originality through robot design and animations to create a vision of tomorrow. We go beyond the realm of just robotics and delve into that area where imagination and technology come together to construct something new. We rely simply on hope and inspiration, along with the support of our parents and community, as we forge into the unknown world of new ideas. Team 223 Xtreme Heat is made up of a diverse group of students interested in science, math, and engineering from the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools branch in Piscataway, NJ, and Lakeland Regional High School in Wanaque, NJ. We are one of many local teams and one of thousands of teams worldwide who participate in FRC.

Please browse our website to learn more about our team, FIRST, and the sponsors who make it all possible.

Team 223 hits the Big Apple - Tuesday, June 16, 2009

On Sunday June 14, members of Team 223 went to NYC to participate in the World Science Festival Street Fair. We, and several other FIRST teams (including NJ teams 75 and 56), were a street exhibit as part of the fair. We spread information about the various FIRST programs to multitudes of people passing by. The exhibit was a hit with young children, who flocked to shoot orbit balls into the tops of the robots.

The highlight of the day was the opportunity to meet and talk to FIRST founder Dean Kamen. Here is a picture of Dean with our team.

You can find out more about the World Science Festival at their website.

Team 223 Heats Up Monty Madness - Sunday, May 17, 2009

Yesterday, May 16 2009, Team 223 traveled to Montgomery Township HS to compete in their annual offseason event: Monty Madness. We competed very well, winning 4 out of 5 of our qualifying matches. We ended qualifying rounds ranked 4th out of 46, and thus were captains of the 4th seeded alliance. Along with teams 75 and 293 we battled our way through quarterfinals, and making it to semifinals, where unfortunately we were unable to topple the first seeded alliance. We are very proud of a successful performance and we had a great time as well. Thanks to Team 1403 for hosting this great event!
